In St. Johns County, Florida, the new UF Health Durbin Park campus is now complete, marking a significant expansion of healthcare services in Northeast Florida. This development, spanning 42.5 acres, aims to meet the growing medical needs of the region. The first phase of the project includes a three-story medical office building and a five-story hospital, both strategically positioned within the bustling Durbin Park community.
UF Health Durbin Park Medical Office Building 1, a 72,000-square-foot facility, centralizes a variety of specialty services such as general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, and neurology, among others. Stellar served as the primary construction manager for this building, collaborating with Gresham Smith on its design.
The adjacent UF Health Durbin Park Hospital, encompassing 220,000 square feet, offers comprehensive healthcare services, housing 99 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department. It provides acute, intensive, and emergency care, equipped with operating rooms and advanced imaging facilities. Stellar managed the hospital’s construction through a joint venture with Batson-Cook Construction and also oversaw the development of a standalone central energy plant crucial for the campus’s infrastructure.
This initial phase is part of a larger $1 billion investment by UF Health Durbin Park, projected to generate approximately 2,000 jobs. The expansion is set to enhance healthcare accessibility for the increasing populations in St. Johns County and Jacksonville, reinforcing Stellar’s prominent role in major healthcare construction projects and its partnership with UF Health.
