South Korea, US, Japan Boost Economic Ties Amid North Korea Tensions

During recent ASEAN-related ministerial meetings in Manila, the foreign ministers of South Korea, the United States, and Japan came together to solidify their stance on key regional issues, notably their joint deterrence strategy against North Korea. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi emphasized their shared resolve to enhance trilateral cooperation on matters of regional security, economic resilience, and emerging technologies.

The discussions highlighted their commitment to a coordinated approach towards North Korea. They reiterated their objective of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula through diplomatic channels coupled with a robust deterrence posture.
